Josh Hawley Waits Over A Year To Open Investigation Into Governor Greitens’ Use Of Social Media

This week, Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley announced an investigation into Governor Eric Greitens’ use of social media and whether it violates Missouri Sunshine Law.

This marks a reversal for Hawley, who said in February that Greitens’ social media should not be subject to open records law.

Hawley’s latest inquiry comes after the Kansas City Star asked his office about emails that appear to show Greitens’ official staff helping to craft a Facebook post for his personal page.

Hawley’s office said they were unaware of the emails until the Star inquiry, but St. Louis Public Radio first reported these emails in March 2017.
