As Josh Hawley opened his campaign office in Springfield yesterday, a crowd of protestors gathered across the street. The group held signs with slogans like, “I am a health care voter” and “Hawley! Hands off our health care” to draw attention to Hawley’s position on health care.
Many of the protesters expressed concern over a lawsuit filed by Hawley and 19 other Republican attorneys general that says mandating insurance companies to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions is unconstitutional. The protestors noted that coverage for nearly 2.5 million Missourians would be at risk if the Republicans’ lawsuit is successful.
Health care continues to be a top priority for voters, especially in Missouri, which has one of the highest rates of adults with pre-existing conditions. Health care advocates have slammed Hawley for his efforts to end protections for these individuals.
